American Family Foundation

Article by Kadence Buchanan

Among the dozens of different groups that have sprouted over the years clamoring for various family-related issues, the American Family Foundation (AFA) has to be one of the most highly-visible and controversial of the lot. The groups has come a long way since being established as a wholly conservative, Christian non-profit organization in 1977 by Rev. Donald Wildmon. At that time, the group was known as the National Federation for Decency and it was based in Tupelo, Mississippi.

One of the areas where the AFA is visible is through the articles that it publishes regularly promoting traditional nuclear family values and the main tenets of Christianity. The group is known for its strong support for Christian missionaries and its intense hatred and opposition against abortion, homosexuality and pornography. They are also known for their role in promoting “clean entertainment” and for preaching the values of thrift and railing against excessive debt.

As an activist group, the AFA is one of the best-organized in the country, especially when it comes to launching boycotts and letter writing campaigns that promote traditional values that they hold dear. Among the more prominent boycotts that the group has undertaken are those against fashion company Abercrombie & Fitch (on the grounds that it uses “softcore pornography in company catalogs”), film distributor Movie Gallery (which it refers to as a “distributor of pornographic videos”), convenience store chain Kmart (for its role in the “Sale of adult-rated music CDs”) and athletic brand Nike (for “promoting a back door move to legalize homosexual marriage”).

Its track record of activism also includes major boycotts against popular TV shows, movies and businesses that it perceived to be promoting indecency. They have also set out on crusades against some well known and highly regarded consumer brands such as Crest, Volkswagen, Tide, Clorox, Pampers, MTV, Burger King, the Carl’s Jr., Kraft Foods, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Old Navy, NutriSystem, and American Airlines.

There is no cause that is too small for the AFA. In fact, in 2004, the AFA launched an attack against the cartoon film Shark Tale on the grounds that the animated flick was brainwashing children into accepting gay rights.

Quick Ways to Lose Weight

Article by Kelvin Ho

With so many diets and weight loss plans on the market, there are many quick ways to lose weight nowadays.

Among them, the South Beach Diet is one that has been gaining some attention. This diet focuses on the glycemic index where good carbs are separated from bad carbs, and bad fats from good fats. There are no calories to count- you eat until you are full, three times a day with two snacks in between. This diet works in phases where the first phase is extremely limited, followed by a second phase with the addition of good carbs, and finally the third phase which is a liberal maintenance plan.

Another diet, the Atkins Diet, is often confused with the South Beach Diet. However, these two ways to lose weight differ in many ways. In the Atkins diet, all carbs are limited. The aim is to consume as few carbs as possible. No protein or fat is limited. This diet has raised some eyebrows due to its lack of concern for saturated fats.

Then there is Nutrisystem, a complete eating plan where the food comes prepackaged in 4-week parcels. It focuses on the glycemic index, like the South Beach Diet, and offers a variety of foods you can choose from. All foods are instant, meaning that little preparation is required. Because everything is measured for you, this is an easier plan for those with portion control problems.

Another way to lose weight is through the Fat Loss for Idiots diet plan, where foods and types of calories consumed changes every few days. With a menu that constantly changes, you’ll be able to eat many kinds of foods. The logic behind this diet is swap the menu when your body becomes accustomed to one menu.

Still, other effective ways to lose weight include exercises and there are many exercise plans to choose from these days. You can opt for video and DVD programs like The Firm or Tae Bo. You can also take up classes or training programs at the gym. Results vary due to the individual effectiveness of each program and the way participants eat during the day.

Quick ways to lose weight also includes the Mediterranean Diet and the traditional Mediterranean lifestyle. In this type of diet, foods are rated as frequent, occasional and rare. Some foods are consumed everyday and with every meal while other foods are eaten once every few days. Then, there are foods that are consumed rarely. It is believed that the long lives of the Mediterranean people can be attributed to their diet.

Among ways to lose weight, one of the oldest diets is the low-calorie, low-fat diet. In such a diet, you are restricted to a certain number of calories per day, usually 1600 or less. Carbohydrates can be consumed regularly, while fat-free and low-fat foods are encouraged. The results of this type of diet is questionable as some claim that weight loss attained through this method may be loss of water and muscle.

As you can see, there are many quick ways to lose weight. The trick with any diet is to stick to it and to maintain weight loss at the end of the diet. A diet should be looked at as a lifelong plan. With any diet, weight loss cannot be permanent without some diligence on the dieter’s part. So decide on a plan, take action and stick with it!

Is Nutrisystem Flex Really Effective?

Article by Ava Alderman

Admittedly, there’s a lot to like about the nutrisystem flex plan. It’s cheaper than the other plans. And you get to take weekends (or any two days) off and eat your own foods on your “off” days. Many people look at all of the pros about the nutrisystem flex program and wonder if there are some cons too. And of course, the most prevalent questions on everyone’s mind would be: is it effective? Or does it work to help you lose weight?

I heard from someone who said “the nutrisystem flex plan is so tempting. I could enjoy the weekends with my family and then I could be good at work during the week. Plus, it’s not as expensive as some of the other plans. But is there a catch? Does it really work? Do people really lose weight taking two days off? It almost seems too good to be true. ” I will try to answer these questions in the following article.

People Do Lose Weight On Nutrisystem Flex, But They Mostly Comply With The Guidelines: First of all, it’s important to understand that this diet works in a couple of ways. The prepackaged foods that they give you are lower in calories. And they are modified to be glycemic friendly. So without having to do a lot of work, you’re taking in less calories as well as more protein and fiber with less carbs. Ideally, people take in around 1200 calories per day. This is quite a difference when you consider that the average American takes in 4,000 calories per day. So you have both the calorie deficit and the higher protein working for you. But what happens when you interrupt this process by taking two days off?

Well, understand that when they say two days off, they don’t mean two days of eating anything and everything that you want. People envision this as if they are going to go on a junk food binge or eat like there is no tomorrow. If you did that, you would be right back up to your normal caloric intake, or perhaps even more because you’d be making up for lost time.

That’s not the way the diet is designed. They do allow you to eat your own foods on your off days. But there are guidelines that you need to follow. Although you will get to chose your own foods and many people do eat out at restaurants on their off days, you do need to be mindful of what you are choosing. You can’t fried junk foods all day and think that this is going to be in line with your weight loss goals.

With that said, even if you go overboard a little bit on the days you take off, there’s a very good chance you are still taking in far fewer calories per week than what is usual for you. I know people on this plan and they have had good success. But they also find that they don’t overeat as much as they thought they might on the weekends. The reason is that they have worked so hard for the five prior days that they don’t want to do anything to jeopardize that hard work by going crazy and over eating. So they make compromises and find something that will make them happy and keep them within compliance. And it’s my experience and opinion that you are able to do this, you really should be able to lose a decent amount of weight on nutrisystem flex. What is the LA Weight Loss program?

Article by Anne Emerick

What is the LA Weight Loss program? Once it was the talk of the town, or at least some towns. With hundreds of locations, none are actually in the vicinity of Los Angeles, so it’s hard to say why the name “LA” weight loss.

LA Weight Loss soared in popularity when People Magazine wrote several articles about LA Weight Loss customers who had lost 60, 103, even 173 pounds. These are the happy endings that we all love to hear – decent caring people transformed from the ugly duckling into a beautiful swan.

The LA Weight Loss program was built around the idea of frequent visits to a LA Weight Loss center where each customer gets coaching and cheerleading from a trained diet/nutrition specialist. But somewhere in this world of positive reinforcement and helping others help themselves, things turned sour.

First, LA Weight Loss statements about their program fees are unclear. Customers reported it being difficult, perhaps impossible, to get a cost estimate over the phone and being told, “we really need you to come in, so we can talk.” The idea being that people have a much harder time resisting sales pressure in person.

Today the LA Weight Loss website still states, “Your total cost is determined by a number of factors: a) there are several basic program packages designed to fit into your budget as well as a number of finance options; b) how much weight you want to lose; and c) your personal profile plays a key role in which program, menu plan, etc., is right for you. Some centers even offer trial programs. You can obtain the most accurate price by scheduling a free consultation with an LA Weight Loss counselor at your local center. It takes only 20 minutes and there’s no obligation. Working together, you’ll be able to determine the precise cost of your program.”

Initially low enrollment fees were offset by LA Weight Loss employees pushing the sale of protein bars and nutritional supplements after consumers had enrolled in the program. LA Weight Loss has repeatedly had to pay fines in Washington State for misrepresenting program costs and making unsubstantiated claims about nutritional supplements or special foods they sell. These and other legal fees caused LA Weight Loss to restructure their operations into centers that were owned and operated by the company, which renamed itself Pure Weight Loss and LA Weight Loss Franchise operations. Pure Weight Loss went bankrupt in early 2008, leaving many members with paid-for but not delivered goods and services and employees with unpaid wages.

The LA Weight Loss program still has its fans, mostly those who managed to have a positive experience and lost weight (not just from their wallet). The weight loss concept seemed solid, but the execution was flawed.

But don’t worry, there is no shortage of experts giving advice on the best, fastest, easiest or healthiest way to lose weight. The long-standing industry giants of Medifast and NutriSystem offer free counseling with their meal plans. Given people’s busy schedules, both of these programs emphasize the fact that you don’t have to drive to a center, but can get support online or over the phone. People want something they can easily integrate into their lives.

The trend in weight loss programs that don’t require spending a lot of time in the kitchen cooking special meals or running to the gym can be seen in the growing popularity of programs that offer solid results with minimal time invested, such as Fit Yummy Mommy which specifically targets new moms and how to lose pregnancy weight while still taking care of your children and Turbulence Training, whose creator, Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS, compares his fat-loss program to the old business principle whereby 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts.

Almost all weight-loss programs, including LA Weight Loss, have some common principals. Weight-loss involves rethinking your attitude towards food and/or increasing the amount of exercise you get. Remember that losing weight is easiest when someone can spark your excitement about setting new goals and trying new things and support you when you are discouraged, whether those helpful words come from a counselor, an author, or just one of your buddies.

What Are The Best Nutrisystem Dinner Entrees Or Meals

Article by Ava Alderman

I sometimes hear from people who are trying to determine which meals to order from nutrisystem. And they are trying to figure out which foods they might like or enjoy the most. One of the most common inquiries or concerns focus on the dinner entrees. This makes sense as these meals are a little more substantial and contain slightly bigger portions. In the following article, I’m going to tell you what I think are the best tasting dinners. Keep in mind that this in only my opinion but interestingly enough, most of my picks are high ranking by other users.

Southwest-Style Chicken Wrap: This is an item from the basic menu. It is spicy and substantial and it includes chicken, beans, rice, corn, and peppers in a tortilla. To me, it taste a lot like a fajita. You can make this in the microwave. This meal is rated nearly five stars by other users.

Turkey Pepperoni Pizza: This item comes from the select or frozen gourmet line. The topping is really truly meant to taste like pepperoni and it is pretty close. There is a generous amount of cheese. You probably won’t mistake this for delivery pizza because of its size, but it’s very tasty. It’s pretty filling also. It too is rated almost five stars. You can microwave it or bake it an oven. This is my favorite pizza on the menu, but if you’re not going for the select foods, many of the pizzas on the basic line are quite good as well.

Chili With Beans: This comes off of the basic menu and it does contain beef (although there is a vegetarian version as well,) and it’s very substantial. I like this because it is tasty and versatile. I’ve been known to use this on top of the turkey dog at lunch. And I also sometimes wrap it in a tortilla with a little cheese. It’s rated over 4 1/2 starts out of a scale from 1 to 5.

Flame Broiled Beef Patty (Hamburger:) I’m not sure why this is referred to as the “flame broiled beef patty” when in fact it is a hamburger and that is exactly what it tastes like. They don’t include the roll, but you are allowed to have one. As the name implies, this patty is pre broiled. You basically just reheat it and then add your toppings. It is rated 4 out of 4 stars.

Mushroom Risotto: This item is also off the basic menu. According to the ingredients list, it contains Italian sausage in addition to mushrooms, but it doesn’t taste overly meaty to me. What I notice is that it’s very creamy and it’s not at all dry and crumbly like pre made risotto can sometimes be. It is rated about 4 stars.

Ravioli Formaggio: This is a frozen entree that is also on the select line. I didn’t really choose this because it tastes all that much different than regular ravioli. I just choose it because not many diets allow you to have cheese filled pasta so really, what’s not to like? It’s rated about 4 stars.

Cajun Chicken And Sausage With Rice: I like this entree for the same reasons that I like the southwest chicken wrap. There are very distinct and strong flavors that you normally don’t find on a diet. And unlike the wrap, this entree is available on the basic menu. One taste and you detect a lot of Cajun seasonings. It’s a bit spicy, but that is what I like about it. And it’s rated over 4 stars.

I hope I’ve shown you that there’s a wide variety of foods that I find tasty on both the basic and select lines. Your opinions may differ from mine, but luckily, there are a lot of dinner items from which to choose.

No matter which plan or foods you choose, you can always use coupons. Medifast Coupons And Nutrisystem Reviews Help Save On Diet Plans

Article by Johnbruce

With membership fees, food prices, dietary supplements and meal enhancements, eating regimen plans can get expensive. Over the counter methods can cost simply as a lot, if not more then other plans. However, with the right resources and a little analysis you can save a lot of money on two common food plan applications, Medifast and Nutrisystem. One of the best place to find useful cash saving suggestions and promotions is through client reviews. Many of which have links to digital coupons you should use towards your purchases.

Saving On MedifastOne of the best methods to keep prices down is using Medifast coupons. They’ve the potential to save you anywhere from twenty-five to 200 dollars. Unfortunately, there are a lot of scams on the market claiming to offer valid coupons, when in reality, these so known as coupons are really strategies to infect your computer and steal your personal banking information. Use warning when using a coupon from a web site you have no idea well.

Saving On NutrisystemAccording to Nutrisystem critiques, top-of-the-line ways to save money on this program is by taking advantage of the websites promotions and discounts. They provide these financial savings regularly and also have a plan in place designed that will help you save if you join as a family. Understand that most of the time these promotions require a set quantity to be spent to be able to use them. One other beneficial savings trick is listening to in store promotions. Since you may add contemporary fruit and veggies to your meals, by anticipating in store gross sales, you can save money the place you’ll other smart spend it. Nonetheless, by shopping for in bulk, profiting from promotions, reductions and coupons, and buying recent meals wisely you can save a lot of money. The Price Of Six Months Of Nutrisystem Foods And Meals

Article by Ava Alderman

<div>

I sometimes hear from people who intend to go on Nutrisystem and who are trying to be very organized and to plan ahead. They want to know exactly what to expect in order to give themselves the best chance of long term success. To that end, many ask me about placing an order for enough meals to meet their entire weight loss goal.

For example, I heard from someone who said: “I figure that I need to lose about 80 pounds. So I’m guessing that it will take me at least six months to lose that kind of weight. I’d like to go ahead and order six month’s worth of food. How much would that cost?”

The answer depends on which package you chose and what special or coupon was running at the time. During some months of the year, some programs are very aggressively priced and they work out to be the better deal. However, regardless when you order, there are always coupons that can bring any package that you chose way down in terms of costs. But to answer this person’s question, below I’ll go over an estimated cost for six months of several Nutrisystem plans.

The Cost Of Six Months Of Nutrisystem Flex: The flex line is usually the cheapest program offered because it is the part time plan. You eat the Nutrisystem foods five days per week instead of seven. Therefore you are paying for less meals, so the price is lower. As of this writing, the price for the basic flex program is around 9. So six months would be around 94.

The Price Of Six Months Of Nutrisystem Basic: The next in terms of expense would be the basic plan. When I say basic, I mean the non frozen version of the regular women’s, men’s or the vegetarian. silver, or diabetic versions of either. This line doesn’t include any of the frozen foods, but many of the foods are quite good. Examples of foods that are included in the basic packages are the cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins, pizza, tacos, ravioli, and chicken with sausage, to name only a few. As of this writing, the basic program is heavily discounted. (This is one of those times when one package is a better deal than another because right now, the basic package is only 3, which puts it at 18 for 6 months, which is only slightly more than the flex plan for much more food. Now, it isn’t always like this. It’s typically priced quite a bit higher than this, but it is deeply discounted as of this writing.)

Note that the men’s plan is generally around more, but they don’t charge extra for the diabetic, silver, or vegetarian plans. Although these plans account for special dietary needs, they are priced the same as the basic plans.

The Six Month Cost For Nutrisystem Select: The most expensive plan is the select line which includes many frozen foods like ice cream sandwiches, sundaes, omelets, melts, and glazed turkey or steak, to just give some examples. I do want to point out that not every entrée on the select line is frozen. You also get some foods from the basic line as well, but many people feel the expense is worth it. Right now, the select line is 9 per month, making it around 94 for six months.

Is It A Good Idea To Buy Your Nutrisystem In Bulk Or Ahead Of Time?: I really like the attitude that inspires someone to think in the long term and commit to seeing things through. That attitude is so important when you are dieting. But, I actually think waiting to make your choices each month can be a good idea also.

Now, you will save money if you sign up for auto ship. And I think this is a good idea because you don’t have to worry about ordering late, but at the same time, you want to evaluate your meals every month. For one thing, you may lose weight more quickly than you think. You may end up with leftover food if you order too much. Second, you may discover foods that you particularly like and want to double up on the next time. (You can always customize your package instead of using the favorites option.) And there are times that you get tired of foods and want to have less of them the next time. So while you may well be on the diet for six months, I think it’s a good idea to think about and perhaps customize your order each time rather than making one huge order in the beginning, but that is only my opinion.

What Is Nutrisystem’s Frozen Foods Called? Where Can You Buy Them?

I’ve started receiving a lot of questions about Nutrisystem’s new program which includes “gourmet” or restaurant quality frozen meals. This is somewhat different from the prepackaged meals that typically only require minimal assembly. This new line of meals is described as “fresh frozen” and is marketed under the name “select.” So, in the following article, I will give you an overview of the foods offered, the program itself, where to get them, and the cost.

An Overview Of Nutrisystem’s “Fresh Frozen” Line (AKA “Select”): Basically, this line gives you basically half “fresh frozen” meals and half of the “regular basic items.” So, when you do go to this page of the company’s website, you might see some foods that you recognize. However, there are several new “gourmet” frozen items that are available. Specifically, there are around 25 additional options. This plan has been very well received, so I would not be at all surprised to see a lot more new additions to this lineup in the future. Below, I’ll outline exactly what foods have been added. These can be ordered from the company’s website.

Nutrisystem Select Breakfast Options: I honestly think that the basic plan’s breakfast is really good. I get by just fine with this without needing to upgrade. However, even I have to admit that the new pancakes and French toast are pretty delicious. There is also a vegetable frittata, a veggie omelet, and a turkey and egg breakfast sandwich. These are all good, but as a carb – lover, I’m more fond of the pancakes and toast.

Nutrisystem Select Lunch Additions: Under the lunch category, we’ve gotten several new sandwiches which are very welcome. I have always felt that the lunch selections were the skimpiest, as there are a lot of soups on the basic plan. So, they have now added a ham and cheese melt, a steak and cheese melt, a chicken fajita, and vegetable or margarita pizza. All of these are quite tasty and as sandwiches weren’t really represented before, this will likely be very well received.

Nutrisystem Select Dinner Selections: There are a lot of Asian selections that have been added here. And there are a lot of thick and savory sauces. If you order these items individually, you’ll see that they are the most expensive items that you can buy a la carte. In truth, they are worth it. These dinner entrées are really where you can see a huge difference in the taste and sometimes in texture. If there was one place where I would fight tooth and nail to get the “fresh frozen” foods, it would be in the dinners. They have added Asian beef, steak with portabella mushrooms, roast turkey, glazed chicken, shrimp alfredo, and ravioli.

Snacks And Desserts: As with the breakfasts, I’ve always felt that the basic plan covered the desserts and snack pretty well. I mean, where else can you have candy bars, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate brownies? So, I have no complaints about these things – frozen or not. But this new line has added in some awesome ice cream sandwiches, a fudge swirl, blueberry parfait, apple crisp, peach crisp, and chocolate and orange bars. I’m extremely fond of the parfait and the crisp.

Now, the new select line is bit pricier. In general, you’re looking at around per meal or around 0 per month (although this is before coupons that can really help. And sometimes, they put this line on sale where it’s the same price as the regular.  You can check at http://celebrity-diet-review.com/.)  And, this is for five meals per day. I don’t think that you can do much better than this for basic groceries. And, it’s very hard to come up with decent tasting meals that are low enough in calories and carbs to get you in ketosis, so I firmly believe that this is worth every penny. However, I also know that the basic plan is the most popular out there. So not every one thinks this upgrade is necessary.
